Our Plattsburgh dentist, Dr. Athena Graves grew up in Ogdensburg and graduated from St. Lawrence University and the School of Dental Medicine at SUNY-Buffalo. She has dedicated herself to excellence in dentistry as a practitioner and a well-regarded lecturer, instructor, and spokesperson on dental topics. Committed to lifelong professional development and continuing education, she has obtained advanced training in orthodontics, endodontics, and periodontal care. She is certified in ClearCorrect™ clear aligners and has also received certification for Periolase™, an FDA-approved laser procedure for the treatment of periodontal disease. Her latest training has focused on some of the advances in the treatment of tooth sensitivity and whitening. This advanced training allows her to offer you faster and more comfortable procedures than ever before. Prior to opening her own office here in 2006, Dr. Graves practiced in Rutland, Vermont and Binghamton, New York. She has lectured at SUNY Plattsburgh, served as a clinical instructor at the Broome County Community College Hygiene School, and lectured master’s nursing students on geriatric dental care. She has been interviewed on television in connection with “Doctors with a Heart Day” (where free care is provided for those who cannot afford it) and featured on local newscasts promoting the Halloween Candy Buy-Back program, which pays kids for their extra Halloween candy and supports US troops overseas with care packages. Dr. Graves and Champlain Smiles regularly participate in the health and welfare of the community through donations of both time and money to various groups. Dr. Graves and her husband, Jeff, have two children. In her spare time, you will find her hiking, quilting, or engaged in family activities.
